Types of Backups
Full Backup
Full backup is the starting point for all other backups, and contains all the data in the folders and files that are selected to be backed up.
Incremental Backup
Incremental backup stores all files that have changed since the last FULL, DIFFERENTIAL OR INCREMENTAL backup.
A full backup can be achieved by taking the last full backup and applying the incremental backups on top of that full backup. In order to get a full backup, multiple incremental backups may need to be applied in the correct order to rebuild the full dataset.
Differential Backup
Differential backup contains all files that have changed since the last FULL backup.
At any point in time, all that is required to rebuild a backup is to take the last full backup, and to copy the latest differential backup.
